We are happy to offer this intermediate Throwing Wheel class for everyone who would like to increase their throwing skills. Maybe you would like to learn how to center bigger amounts of clay, throw larger vessels or specific shapes. Maybe you have a specific project in mind but need someone to give you a helping hand and some advice. We got you! This class will concentrate on participant's individual ideas and questions. As our focus will be to help you grow your skills at the wheel we will not be glazing together in this class.

Please note: You should have around 3 months experience in working independently at the Throwing Wheel. Furthermore you should be able to handle basic techniques like centering regular amounts of clay, pulling walls and trimming foot rings as those will not be part of this class in particular. Of course you are more than welcome to join this class, even if you didn't bring the above to perfection yet.

1.Session: Saturday 11am-01:30pm

We will start the class with a little welcome throwing session to warm up. In the meantime we will discuss your individual questions and ideas for this class. Our teacher Victoria will assist you in your individual focus of this class throughout this session and the next two throwing sessions ahead.

2.Session: Sunday 11am-01:30pm

The second session is all about spending more time at the wheel to practice on your skills and individual topics. You might dive deeper into what interest you the most and ask questions about techniques, the material or general processes at a ceramic studio.

3.Session: Saturday 11am-01:30pm

During our third session you are free to continue throwing pieces and simply practice while being able to ask questions along the way or take some time to trim pieces of our previous sessions. The bisque firing of up to three finished pieces of this class is included in the price.

4.Session: Sunday 11am-01:30pm

During our last session you are free to continue trimming more pieces, attaching handles or work on your piece's leather hard surface. If you would like to finish your pieces with a glazing at our studio you are free to book a spot at our open studio on Thursday evenings. If you prefer not to glaze a piece yourself you might make use of our glazing option for 10€ per piece with glossy transparent food-safe glaze.

How to prepare for the class: For the classes you might want to wear something you wouldn‘t mind getting a little dirty as well as shorten your finger nails. We will provide an apron and everything that‘s needed for every participant.

Picking-Up Your Pieces: Finalizing your pieces might take between 3-6 weeks. Once your pieces are ready, you will be notified via email and might pick up your pieces during our Open Studio Hours on Thursdays between 5-9pm.

Cancellation Policy: In case you need to cancel your booking please do so 10 days prior to our first session in order to get a refund. Also please make sure to block all dates of the sessions as they are fixed. Missed classes can not be reimbursed or repeated.

Number of participants: The workshop will be held in a small group of six participants. The minimum number of participants in order for this class to take place is four. 

Location: All classes take place at our Studio at Christinenstraße 32 in 10119 Berlin Prenzlauer Berg. Please ring the doorbell and walk through to the backyard.
